I’m Valerie Fulton, the property owner. I’m also a freelance writer, editor, and content strategist who specializes in the following industries: education, lifestyle, nonprofit, real estate, and travel.
I create original pieces that are responsibly researched and sourced. I am up-to-date on the latest SEO techniques and well-versed in the most effective strategies in content marketing.
If you are looking for a line or developmental editor, I have professional copyediting experience and have helped a number of writers to prepare their manuscripts for publication. Twenty years of teaching composition has turned me into a fearsome grammarian; I leave no comma misplaced.
I am selective about the assignments I accept, and I don’t outsource work. If you hire me, you will work with me directly and have my undivided attention.
WHAT HAVE I WRITTEN?
- Education and research grants.
- Essays published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Literally hundreds of blog posts.
- Articles (both print and web-based).
- LinkedIn and company bios.
- Case studies and advertorials.
- Press releases.
- Video scripts.
- Three feature length screenplays.
I’ve worked through marketing agencies and directly with the heads of marketing to produce content for the following companies and institutions: Blue Host, Sears, UPS, The Change Leader, the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign, Wootric, Veros Real Estate Solutions, Hiveage, Pink Monkey Solutions, the University of Tennessee, the Peak Realty Group, and others.
WHAT HAVE I EDITED?
Over the years I’ve taken a red pen to literally hundreds of print essays, short stories, grants, and manuscripts. One of the science grants I edited for the University of Texas, Austin, was awarded $9 million dollars from the National Science Foundation. I was a reader for Ploughshares and the editor of my undergraduate literary magazine, The Pequod.
I spent a year editing marketing materials for Copypress, an online content provider, so I am familiar editing virtual content as well.
My most recent print editorial work is with The Nasty Women Project. I was also a developmental editor for the manuscript of Lovie: The Story of a Southern Midwife, which came out this year from Duke University Press.
